Address: 404 Browning Ct., Unit C, Purcellville, VA
Type: Production brewery

Year Founded: 2013

General Description: “Consume Life, Drink Art” is the motto of this Virginia nanobrewery. You won’t find anything to BJCP style here. No typical facsimiles of styles. The brewers here believe in “esoteric” takes and big, bold flavors. They barrel-aged a number of beers and take a very niche approach to brewing, which has gained them a reputation, especially among those in the “Black Heart Society,” their beer reserve society. You won’t see them on draft very often because of the small scale of their brewing system, but these are often worth seeking out.

  • B/A/Y/S (Black As Your Soul) (Imperial Stout / 9.1%) - Very rich amalgamation of roasted and toasted malts. Underlying flavors of “aged woods, fresh fruits, and earthy nuts.”

  • G/I/A/A (God Is An American) (Imperial India Pale Ale / 9.6%) - Exceedingly bitter (95 IBUs), Citra-heavy imperial IPA. Tropical fruit intensity that is not for the faint of heart

  • T/P/D (The Perfect Drug) (Saison / 8%) - Inspired by absinthe, this is a relatively high gravity saison that has all of the fruity pear, apple, and spicy yeast notes of its lower-alcohol brethren

Notable Non-Flagships:

  • Cannibalism (American Milk Stout / 7%) - Brewed using American macrolager in place of water, this beer transforms “fizzy yellow water” into something chocolatey and slightly sweet

  • The Devil Made Me (Smoked Porter / 7%) - Roast and light chocolate notes give way to a slight smokiness
