General Description: Opened in 1992, this was DC’s first brewpub to open since Prohibition. Since then, they’ve been mainstays of the scene producing award-winning brews in approachable styles as well as rotating seasonals. Brewing takes place under area industry veteran Kristi Griner in the Shirlington location.

  • Capitol Kolsch (5.2%) - “Classic German-style blonde ale, fermented cool for clean, lager-like flavor. Brewed with Pilsen, Vienna, wheat, and acidulated malt with Perle and German Tradition hops. Winner: 2001 Silver Medal, 2002 Gold Medal Great American Beer Festival”
  • Pale Rider Ale (American Pale Ale / 5.8%) - “American pale ale brewed with Munich and crystal malts and loaded with Columbus and Centennial hops. Citrusy nose and smooth body to satisfy your inner hophead!”
  • Amber Waves Ale (American Amber Ale / 5.6%) - “American-style Amber ale with a lovely red hue and citrusy aroma from Columbus and Cascade hops. A fine balance of hops and sweet caramel malt flavor. 2014 Silver Medal, 2006 Silver Medal, 2005 Gold Medal Winner GABF”
  • Prohibition Porter (4.8%) - “Traditional English style ruby-brown ale with pronounced chocolate malt character. Single hopped with Fuggles from England.”
