Name: Jailbreak Brewing Company
Address: 9445 Washington Blvd N, Laurel, MD 20723
Type: Production brewery

Year Founded: 2014

General Description: Brewing under the tag “the art of escape,” Jailbreak’s beers are intended to make you forget, for a time, all of the hassles and grievances of everyday life. They brew a healthy variety of beers, including some with unexpected hooks (akin to Dogfish Head) and traditional styles. Located in Laurel, this is a great place to head whether you’re a Bay Stater looking for new brews or a Washingtonian looking to get out of the city.

Flagships:

  • Made Wit Basil (Witbier / 5%) - What starts with a traditional witbier with orange peel and coriander additions gets a little quirky with huge amounts of fresh basil for an additional herbaceousness

  • Big Punisher (Double India Pale Ale / 8.5%) - Balanced DIPA with significant malt backbone and citrus and tropical fruit hop notes

  • Feed the Monkey (Hefeweizen / 6%) - Traditional German hefeweizen that includes notes of bright citrus, wheat, banana, and clove

  • Infinite (American Amber Ale / 5%) - Easy-drinking with caramel and toffee notes from the malt, a dry finish, and a decidedly balanced approach

Notable Non-Flagships:

  • The Carrot Cake Conspiracy (American Amber Ale / 6%) - Amber ale with lightly roasted carrots and “fall seasonal spices”

  • Welcome to Scoville (India Pale Ale / 6.9%) - IPA with cilantro and fresh jalapenos added. Spicy hop notes and a spicy pepper kick

  • The Kavorka (Porter / 5.5%) - Roasty porter with the additions of sweet cherries and dark, tart cherries for a sweet and tart offering

  • Blimey (American Pale Ale / 5%) - A “Key Lime pale ale,” this starts with a “clean, crisp, and dry malt backbone” and adds “the bright acidity of pure key lime and fresh lemongrass.”

  • Dusk Til Dawn (Russian Imperial Stout / 10.6%) - “A medley of chocolate, fresh pressed espresso from Ceremony Coffee Roasters and roasted malt,” this stout will keep you up at night with its rich and boozy punch
