General Description: Old Ox Brewery (named after Old Ox Road, which it’s near, and also the ox as a symbol of strength) is a family-run brewery using a 30 BBL brewhouse to crank out beers in Loudoun County. During their first year of production, they will be draft only, so look for them at your favorite bar or restaurant or head out to Ashburn and get a growler.

Flagships:

  • Black Ox (Porter / 5.8%) - A delightful porter that serves as a showcase for the rye that makes up a significant percentage of its malt bill. Roasty and spicy but well-balanced.

  • Golden Ox (Belgian Golden Ale / 6.5%) - Delightfully fruity (apple, pear, peach) yeast notes precede a crisp finish. Flowery/grassy hop notes comes from Saaz, Columbus, and Cascade.

  • Alpha Ox (Session IPA / 4.5%) - Quite a tasty session IPA with a bit of an odd malt bill (Caramunich, abbey, and flaked oats for mouthfeel). Generously hopped with Amarillo, Centennial, and Simcoe

Notable Non-Flagships:

  • BS Belgian Specialty (Dark Belgian Strong Ale / 7.8%) - Caramel and dark fruit notes in a spicy Belgian package

  • The Oxorcist (Pumpkin Ale / 5.9%) - Brown ale loaded with pumpkin and graham crackers.
