This is all getting kind of confusing. You've got Bluejacket, a brewpub, collaborating with De la Senne to produce Gray Jacket, a beer, and then you have Bluejacket's parent bar, ChurchKey, hosting Green Jack Brewing Company for their DC debut.
There's a redcoat joke here somewhere probably. Or not.
Vanberg & Dewulf Imports are bringing in some English craft-brewed ales to CK onTuesday, May 21. Five draft selections from Green Jack Brewing Company will be available.
The Green Jack Brewery is installed in a former herring smokehouse at the end of Love Lane in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. Therein Tim Dunford produces a range of small batch, site-specific, Belgian-influenced beers. They are not widely distributed and are mainly sold in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridge, which makes their appearance in DC remarkable.
All Green Jack beers are brewed with Flagon winter barley, and are all grown and malted in Norfolk (among the best barley in the world in most growing seasons). Moreover, all are fermented with the same four strains of English ale yeast – which can be traced back over 100 years – and use whole flower hops.
On tap for the evening will be Rippa, a sort of Belgian tripel meets English strong ESB, Red Herring, one of the few smoked beers brewed in England, Lurcher Stout, a sessionable black ale, and two classic British bitters: Gone Fishing, a classic ESB, and Trawlerboys, a best bitter of 4.6% abv.
There is no admission fee for this event and all Green Jack Drafts will be priced individually in 4 oz. tasters and in full-glass pours.
