The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is transforming Union Market into an afternoon street fair for its Israel@65 Festival, a celebration of Jewish food, drink, and music. Among the featured Israeli products are beers from Srigim Brewery. Never before sold in the US, tasters will be poured throughout the day. From the organizers:
The beers are brewed and bottled at the Srigim Brewery, based in the town of Srigim-LiOn in the Federation’s Partnership region of Mateh Yehuda. It was founded by two high-tech specialists who, after living in the US for several years and falling in love with craft beer, developed a second career as craft brewers. The brewery has combined state of the art equipment with tourism, creating a visitors center that has made their beer making a cultural attraction. The beers at the festival will include:
· The Ugly Indian (IPA) – A contrast between the sweet aroma and the bitter flavor of pink grapefruit, lychee and passion fruit. Winner of Gold medal of BIRA 2011 International competition.
· The Wicked Dark Ale – Dark ale with a combination of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and light smoked flavors. Won the 1st place in the Sam Adams “Longshot 2010” competition and a Silver medal in the BIRA 2011 International competition.
· Bavarian Wheat Beer – Authentic German style wheat beer (Weissbier). Delicate taste and fruity aroma. Won the 1st place in the Samuel Adams “Longshot 2009” competition.
