Robbie Burns Beer Dinner at Mad Fox

Mad Fox Brewing Company wants to help you banish the winter blahs with their Robbie Burns Dinner on Wednesday, January 23. The five-course beer dinner featuring Scottish favorites marks the 254th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns (1759-1796), the great Scottish poet.

According to a press release, "Burns Suppers run the gamut from staid, formal affairs to far more raucous occasions. Mad Fox’s unique take on the global tradition will fall more to the fun, flavorful side of life." The full menu is below.

Known in Scotland as “The Bard,” Burns is best known for his poetic song Auld Lang Syne, the popular tune played annually at New Year’s celebrations worldwide. A pioneer of the Romantic Movement, his poetry and lyrics gave him wide renown as the national poet of Scotland. Following his death, Burns’ friends began honoring his passing each year with a traditional Scottish meal including haggis, Scotch whisky and the reciting of Burns’ poetry. The Burns Supper was born from this, and is now celebrated by Scottish societies and organizations around the world, generally around the time of the poet’s birthday.
