On Friday, December 14 at 6pm, Rustico Ballston will tap seven different Slumbrew drafts from the newest craft brewry to enter Northern Virginia, Somerville Brewing Company. This Massachusetts craft brewer has been causing quite a stir in the northeast in the little over a year that they have been in production, and on Friday night they'll be bringing their wares for the craft beer community of NoVa to enjoy. Slumbrew owner/ brewmaster Jeff Leiter will be on hand to spread the word about his portfolio.
Slumbrew is the brand for Somerville's beers, all of which are an expression of quality ingredients; these are brews that are intended to be inventive, inspired, and intended for discerning beer drinkers. For Somerville, inspiration comes in the form of raw ingredients, brewing process and flavor. Whether they are resurrecting bygone styles, like their Rising Sun Ale (a take on a German Dampfbier), or utilizing interesting ingredients in their ales, like their Porter Square (brewed with local Taza Chocolate) or Attic & Eaves (brewed with Toasted Buckwheat), Slumbrew consistently showcases unique products. Each of their recipes are designed and tested at their small 350 square foot nano-brewery in Somerville, MA, then brewed for the larger market at Mercury Brewing Company in Ipswich, MA.
There is no admission for the event and all Slumbrew drafts will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. tasting pours.
