Craft Beer Cellar Honors "the OGs" of Craft Beer, Offers Pre-Mixed 6's of Classics

This is a pretty cool idea for all you whippersnappers out there who look down your noses at beers like Victory Prima Pils, Sierra Nevada Pale, and Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter. Craft Beer Cellar DC is located at 301 H Street NE. From one of their emails (which you can sign up for here):

Time to take a trip down memory lane! Do you remember the first craft beer you ever had? What was it? Have you had the beer recently?

When I was introduced to craft beer in the 90s, less than 1,500 craft breweries were operating. That number is approaching 7,000 today. New Belgium Fat Tire was one of my transition beers and the Victory Prima Pils with its hop bite and flavor changed my mind about light-colored lagers. It's been a while since I've had either beer, and that makes me sad.

During the month of August, PorchDrinking.com paid homage to the OGs of Craft Beer. Like them, we throughouly enjoy bringing you the newest beers and styles (we'll be getting our first Brut IPA later this month). But we also like to revisit the classics and explore the pioneers that helped pave the way to where we are today. The PorchDrinking series reminds us that we need to do just that.

On September 8, we'll be hosting a tasting featuring some of these standard bearers. During the month, we'll also have pre-mixed 6-packs containing some of these OGs for a quick grab-and-go. Take a little time to remember these beers and the pioneering breweries who made it all happen.
